MAY 4
tHE bISHOP IS COMING FOR A VISIT
In her rotation of visiting every church in the Diocese, the Bishop will be with us on Sunday, May 4th, to help us celebrate the Easter Season. The Episcopal tradition is that all loose plate given that Sunday will go to the Bishop's Discretionary Fund.
Through her Discretionary Fund, the Bishop responds directly to requests for assistance from individuals and from charitable organizations. She provides financial support to entities that do the Gospel work of caring for people. A Discretionary Fund, while subject to church audit, maintains confidentiality for those served. Like a clergy discretionary fund, it provides a way for the church to support the needs of those who approach the Bishop for help.
After the service, we will host a luncheon for her, and the Bishop will stay and answer questions. There is a sign up sheet at church for this luncheon, and you can bring what you feel called to bring. The Bishop does have some dietary restrictions that we would like to accomodate, so please attend to the following: No gluten, cow dairy, bananas, grapes, raisins, or meats with nitrates. No salmon or shrimp.
If you have any questions, please talk with Rev Colburn or Kathy or Kerri.
